Winter Style, Sorted: Stay Warm And Look Great

Step away from the leggings and puffer coat! Winter is undoubtedly the season of chilly mornings, which makes the temptation to throw on the same comfy, warm clothes day after day after day.

Staying warm and feeling stylish can feel like a bit of an impossible combo, but I assure you it’s possible to feel cosy and look and feel fab.

Winter fashion shows often depict winter style as oversized layers that swallow you whole. But I believe that real winter style is all about creating practical, flattering, feel good outfits you actually want to wear.

If you know me, you know I could talk fashion all day every day (and I do!), but to help get your winter wardrobe off to a solid start I’ve narrowed it down to four key tips to sort your style out for winter!

1. Let Your Coat Do The Talking

If you’re going to throw something over every outfit for three months straight, it better be a good one. A great coat or jacket instantly elevates your look, no matter what’s underneath.

Blazers with structure. Wool coats in colours that are so you. A classic trench layered over a knit. Pick a style that makes you feel chic, and don’t be afraid to go beyond black. Camel, charcoal, navy, forest green… they’re all timeless, but just that little bit more interesting. Then again, there’s always black and don’t we love it.

2. Layer Smart, Not Bulky

The key to layering without feeling like the Michelin Man? Start slim, then build.

A fitted thermal or long sleeve tee under a knit. A fine merino turtleneck under a blazer. Tights or fleece leggings under dresses. By layering close to the body first, you keep warmth in without adding bulk.

Bonus tip: don’t underestimate a great vest or singlet (yes, really). Layer under coats to trap heat or wear over knits for extra shape and dimension.

3. Introduce Colour And Texture To The Mix

Winter’s a season where it’s so easy to default to neutrals, but adding even a hint of colour or texture breaks it up and keeps your outfit (and you)  feeling fresh and full of life.

A colourful scarf. A leather look pant instead of plain leggings. A chunky knit in soft cream, dusty pink or forest green.  Texture adds depth, even in neutral palette and instantly makes your outfit feel more styled.

4. Pick Footwear That Works And Wows

Practical doesn’t have to mean boring. A sleek ankle boot with a low block heel. A kneehigh boot over tights. A nice sneaker that marries style and comfort (mindful of choosing fabrics that can handle the wet weather).

It’s all about giving your outfit that intentional, finished feel.

Ready To Love Your Winter Wardrobe?

Winter style doesn’t have to mean hiding under layers or feeling blah about what you’re wearing. Once you find those key pieces and combos that work, you will feel warm and confident even on the chilliest days.
